Package Development Engineer

Place of employment: New York

Overview: Under the direction of the Director of Product Development, the Package Development Engineer will develop quality and cost effective packaging in line with Moroccanoil quality standards and protocols.

Tasks:

• Develop product and promotional packaging, including secondary and tertiary packaging where needed.
• Research and conceptualization of new package shapes, including material and decoration options.
• Manage and evaluate custom vendor package and material proposals, including risk and cost analysis.
• Read, analyze, and approve CAD/Solidworks drawings of new custom packages prior to molding.
• Qualify and validate all custom packaging and molds.
• Develop and finalize all functional and aesthetic ranges and parameters.  
• Analyze and interpret package testing results, provide risk analysis and propose technical solutions where necessary. 
• Create and maintain component pre and final specifications, BOMS and finished good specs.
• Understand supplier manufacturing processes, and filling plant operations and logistics.
• Manage line trials, component manufacturing and production start up.
• Conduct value analysis and cost reduction activities as needed.
• Collaborate with and provide guidance to operational teams, vendors and plants on manufacturing and industrialization.
• Partner closely with marketing and creative teams on developments throughout launch process.
• Manage multiple dates to meet established timelines.
• Special projects.
 
Qualifications:
• BS/BA in Package Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical degree
• 4-5 years of relevant packaging experience, ideally in cosmetics and/or personal care
•  Strong PC, MS Office and basic CAD software
• MS Project experience is a plus.
• Hebrew language capability is a plus.
• Good organizational skills to manage testing, documentation, and information. 
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to handle various situations, and multiple priorities, with diverse culture and personalities within the team and global partners

• Ability to multi-task
• Able to function well under pressure, in a fast pace environment 
• Flexible and adaptable to managing change in business needs and priorities
• Able to work in a team or individually.

Product Development Assistant

Place of employment: New York

Overview: Under the direction of the Director of Product Development, the Product Development Assistant will assist the team with product organization and testing, competitive research, and general administrative support.

Tasks:

• Organize, log, and keep track of all incoming vendor product submissions.
• Coordinate all samples (fill & label) for various department and testing needs.
• Arrange dispatch of samples and questionnaires, either by shipment or drop off at local salons.
• Daily follow-ups with various testing candidates, including frequent in-person visits at local salons.
• Meticulously log and keep track of all product feedback, inputted into an analytical format.
• Maintain product testing database, ensuring information is up to date.
•  Maintain organization of PD closet with submissions, standards and finished goods. 
• Assist with field and competitive research.
• Purchase competitive products, testing materials, and other items as needed.
• General administrative support for rest of PD team as needed.
• Special projects.
 
Qualifications:
•  College degree.
•  1-2 years of experience in the beauty industry as an intern or assistant.
•  Salon industry experience or cosmetology background, an asset.
• Extremely detailed and organized. 
• Good communication and presentation skills to a wide audience (various types of salons and consumers)
• Takes initiative.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Able to work well and work fast under pressure.
• Able to work in a team or individually.
