PROTECTING WHAT CONNECTS US ALL
We are proud to partner with Oceana, the largest international advocacy organization focused solely on ocean conservation. In addition to ongoing donations, we will work with Oceana to raise awareness and support their mission to protect and restore the world’s oceans.
WHY OCEANS MATTER
Protecting the oceans protects us all. Taking adequate steps to restore and conserve the world’s oceans could help us reduce world hunger, restore marine habitats, clean up the planet, and safeguard our coastal economy, according to Oceana studies and reporting.
REDUCE WORLD HUNGER
There are at least 420 million hungry people in major fishing countries. By 2050, 700 million people could rely on a daily seafood meal if we stopped overfishing now.
RESTORE MARINE HABITATS
Protecting important ocean habitats from destructive fishing practices and pollution protects all marine life, from top predators to tiny zooplankton.
CLEAN UP THE PLANET
An estimated 33 billion pounds of plastic leaks into the marine environment from land-based sources every year—roughly equivalent to two garbage trucks full of plastic every minute.
SAFEGUARD OUR COAST
Offshore drilling protections could prevent over 19 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as more than $720 billion in damages to people, property and the environment.
