3 Bridal Trends We Loved at | Bridal Fashion Week

Bridal trends are a fickle thing. Understandably, most brides want to look timeless on their wedding day. (Those photos last a lifetime, after all.) But presumably, you want to feel fashionable and, above all, like yourself. Ultimately, that means some detail—even if it won’t make itself known for years to come—will date your bridal look. And there’s nothing wrong with that! We guarantee that every woman who got married in Princess Di sleeves felt like a princess herself, at the time. So if you’re looking for a special touch to help you feel like your very best self on your big day, read on for three of our favorite bridal trends from the Spring 2020 collections at Bridal Fashion Week.

Short Dresses

With more and more couples opting for romantic elopements and casual outdoor affairs, it makes sense that less formal wedding attire is rising in popularity. Which is not to say that today’s short dresses sacrifice on the wow factor! The best of this bridal trend includes this full-sleeved showstopper from Lela Rose, this high-impact mini dress from Reem Acra and this fully fringed masterpiece from Oscar de la Renta. Bonus: shorter dresses make it easier to dance the night away.

Dramatic Bows

With so-called “bow- ments” popping up on everyone from Kate Middleton to runway models, it’s no surprise that they’re one of today's reigning bridal trends. Oversized bows and bow-inspired details were practically a centerpiece at the Oscar de la Renta show. (We're here for it.) We also love these front-facing bows from Lihi Hod and Carolina Herrera. Both strike the perfect balance between sweet and chic.

Floral Patterns

While floral lace is a longtime bridal mainstay, we noticed colorful floral patterns making their way onto more and more bridal gowns during last week’s shows. Like the best bridal trends, this look feels equal parts classic and modern. The romantic femininity of the florals on gowns like this one from Monique Lhuillier keeps the look just the right amount of traditional, while the color adds an unexpected splash of whimsy. For something even more eye-catching, check out this stunning dress from Hermione de Paula. Dubbed “Underwater Wild Flower”, the gown features a coral motif blended with more traditional florals, all in vividly colorful shades.
